When you think of soul-satisfyingly good food, you think of Italy. Bowls of heaping semolina pasta as yellow as the sun. Seafood right off the hook, grilled and served to perfection. Vegetables plucked from the earth just moments before they grace your plate. Wine, ever flowing, rich and robust. Take a journey from farm to table in the Piedmont and Emilia Romagna regions of Italy.
In a country where food is royalty, these regions are king. From the frenzy of white truffle season to the majestic grapes that are aged into the Barolos and Barbarescos, and cheese crafted with perfection, we will loosen our belt buckles and explore the gastronomic masterpieces, as we soak in the history of culture of this famed region.
Montalcino
Over the last dozen years I have been lucky enough to have traveled to Italy, mostly for work, pretty much annually and twice in the really good years. My travels have been focused around food and wine, mostly in the two super-premium growing areas, Tuscany and Piemonte. The relationships I have developed have enabled me to share Italian wine and food culture with students each year. We are privileged to experience in depth tours and tastings that the general public simply cannot. For years alumni who know of the student trips have asked when they could come. The time is near.
I am so excited to be able to share these experiences with a limited number of DU alumni. Please join me in June of 2024 for what promises to be an extraordinary journey. Together we will share the amazing regional wine and food of Italy. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip you will not want to miss.
