February 16 - 25, 2023 | Maximum Group Size: 15 Participants | Availability: Open

Nice

The legendary beauty of the French Riviera has beckoned visitors for centuries. Artists have been inspired by its brilliant light and deep shadows, poets and writers have been moved to pen great works, and holidaymakers, from the very rich and famous to everyday travelers, have come to bask in the sunshine and glamour this coastline offers. Remember: spring comes early to the French Riviera.

We’ll make our first base in the city of Aix-en-Provence, within easy striking distance of the city of Marseilles and the fabulous scenery of the Luberon, the mountainous National Park that rises above the coastal plain of Provence. We’ll also spend a day exploring St Remy de Provence, where Van Gogh spent a year in an asylum, one of the most prolific periods of his troubled life.

We then move on to the exotic city of Nice, where panoramic sightseeing will introduce the vastly different areas of the city. We include a visit to the world-famous Matisse Museum as well. Day excursions from Nice capture the contrast of the magnificent scenery – coastal and mountainous – which surrounds the city. Highlights will certainly be our visits to the Picasso Museum and a day spent in the charming town of Menton, celebrating its annual Lemon Festival.
